I wrote this song after I had quit my job, left my band and was on the cusp of a move to Philadelphia to begin writing my first solo album. It was a brash and liberating personal journey to embark upon, but the thing that kept the embers of drive and determination a-cinder was that knowledge of the home-fire burning.
lyrics
I'll Be Home Soon by eric-jon
Well the rain is falling down
and I don't know what to do.
It seems life has a way of destroying the day
Well its high time to leave town
I just don't feel like leaving you.
I'll go spend my time with the devil
and I'll spare you the news.
I'll be home soon.
Don't think that way that I'm leaving because of you.
Its not true.
Don't ya think that way that I don't wanna be with you
'cause I do.
I will find my way back home.
I will take this train to where I used to be
but there's just one thing I hope:
when I get there, will you be my home?
Well the sun is shining down
and my thoughts are all of you.
It seems night has a way of igniting the day
Well its my time to break down.
I come unglued when not with you.
I spend all my time with this devil
and I spare you the truth.
I'll be home soon.
I will be ok,
I'll just lose myself in the blue
its overdue.
We will beat this grey,
its a weak and sullied hue
I'll come through.
I will fight my way back home
but I cant take this train to what I used to be
but there is just one thing I know:
when I get there
you will be my home.
